ACCOMMODATION

In Syracuse hotels of all classes are available at reasonable prices. Information is available in the conference web page. It is hoped that conference participants will stay in Ortygia, the ancient city, and walk to all conference events. In early June Syracuse is sunny with an average temperature of 24ºC/75oF.

TRAVEL INFORMATION

Syracuse is accessible by air, car, train, and bus. The Catania- Fontanarossa Airport is 53 km north of Syracuse, about a onehour drive. Bus services from/to airport to/from Syracuse are available with schedule at www.interbus.it (INTERBUS - Ph.+39 095 532716 ). The Palermo International Airport is 210 km northwest of Syracuse, a four-hour drive. From Central Europe by car, take the A3 Autostrada to Reggio Calabria and cross the Straits of Messina by ferry. Follow the A18 toll road to Catania, continuing on the SS114 to Syracuse.

SOCIAL PROGRAM

The following activities are scheduled (included in the the registration fee):

  • Wednesday 9 June 2010: Conference Banquet at 20.30 – 23.30 at the terrace of Hotel Des Etrangers et Miramare (tentative)
  • Thursday 10 June 2010: Cultural Visit to Euryalo Castle and other archaeological sites, with Social dinner, departure at 15.00 from Riva Garibaldi in Ortygia
